Electric cars are coming, are you ready? The car manufacturers have realized the future and have already started working for the same. Cars will be running on electricity instead of gasoline engines, though the cars will be equipped with both fuel and electric modes. The user has the choice to select the desired mode. 5 new cars are lined up to launch in the Indian market by this year end. Mahindra, Chevrolet and Tata are ready to hit Indian roads by their electric cars launch in 2015. The cars will be offered at affordable prices with variety of features to compliment their power under the hood. Let’s have a look at the cars coming soon having the capability to run on electricity.
Electric Car #1: Tata ConnectNext
Tata ConnectNext is an electric car by Tata Motors which is expected to launch by September 2015. The five seater concept car by Tata Motors was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo Event. The car comprises of a variety of new and exciting features. It is expected to be 4 metres long with the cabin integrated with features like cloud connectivity, rear seat screens with wireless headphones, wireless hub and more. The car has the ability to stop at high speed all thanks to its electronic parking brakes. It has the automatic transmission system which is mated to an electric motor. The car looks pretty smart with all the new level features and style. The expected price tag for this car is INR 5,00,000.
Electric Car #2: Chevrolet Beat Electric
US auto maker also joins the race and sights the need of electric vehicles in coming years. The company has planned to come up with few electric models of cars in near future. Chevrolet Beat being one of them. The power train gets the same specifications as that of current petrol one and will be powered with Lithium-ion batteries. The concept version for the same was showcase at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi. The car is expected to come by the second half of the ongoing year but there isn’t any confirmation on the launch.
Electric Car #3: Mahindra Halo
Mahindra & Mahindra is coming up with electric sports car named Mahindra Halo which is expected to launch by 2017. The electric car has the ability to reach 100 Km/h mark from 0 in 8 seconds and it can run up to 200Km when fully charged. It has all the qualities of a sports car with great looks and design. Surely it would create a buzz around as soon as it is launched. The covers were shed off the electric sports car earlier at the 2014 Auto Expo. The expected price for this upcoming car will be around 30 to 35 lacs.
Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid
The flagship model by Mahindra, XUV500 gets the hybrid formula. Along with the general specifications it gets an electric motor which is powered with Lithium-ion batteries. Overall the car gets a 2.2 litre mHawk diesel engine capable of producing maximum power of 140bhp and 330Nm of maximum torque. It will be priced in the range of 13 to 15 lacs and is expected to hit roads by the end of this year.
