BIkes Bonus Concepts

The BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 could change the world of motorcycles

It’s been a busy year for the automobile world as we saw a major shift especially in the EV segment as a number of concepts were showcased by a variety of well known and independent car makers. Even the two-wheeler segment saw some new launches at the Intermot show. However what really impressed us was the new concept from BMW.

No we are not talking about a new car, but a motorcycle. The BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100 is an electric-powered concept motorcycle that was showcased at the “Iconic Impulses. The BMW Group Future Experience” exhibition in Los Angeles. It is a self balancing bike that is built for the future. It doesn’t need a helmet either as it is designed in such a way that chances of a crash are negligible (very bold indeed). You do however, get a visor that gives a whole lot of information.

The body is made from a flexible carbon fiber shell offers zero carbon emissions and has a camera-based sensor technology called driver assistance which is said to make it almost impossible to crash. The self-balancing system keeps the bike upright both when standing or in motion.

Before you get too excited, the machine won’t be available anytime soon as the concept is quite a far-fetched idea. The company hasn’t revealed any details either if it actually will put this in production. Edgar Heinrich, head of design at BMW Motorrad said, “Normally when we develop a motorcycle, we tend to think five to 10 years in advance. On this occasion, we looked much further ahead and found some very attractive prospects.”
